Bronze Statue
Inspired by one of the most striking historical scenes, a racing chariot and rearing horses, Ivan Minekov takes us to the antiquity. Even though the scene can be easily transferred to a modern-day hippodrome, there is something ancient about the way he approaches the topic. Knowing that mythology and history are great inspiration pools for the artist, it’s impossible not to envision a Roman or Greek charioteer behind the rearing horses.
Through this miniature bronze sculpture, the artist pays homage to one of the universal subjects in ancient art, evoking either Helios or Apollo.
